Can I influence the effects of the donation on the succession?
Yes, this is possible because, if you dispose of your assets during your lifetime, you decrease the size of the estate and that has an effect on the whole succession. Transactions made without consideration during one's lifetime – gifts and wills - are only valid if they don't exceed the disposable share. Even if they fall within the disposable share, they could still have an effect on the succession because the ¼ share exceeds the size of the succession and won't be shared amongst the legal heirs, as it will already be owned by the person of the legator's choice.
