Under Czech law, spouses share all assets acquired by either of them during their marriage, including salary, old-age pension and other incomes, as well as all debts accepted by either spouse (for example a loan, but not compensation for damage). However, assets acquired from the inheritance or as a gift, for example, are not considered to be common property. Nevertheless, you can change this approach by concluding an agreement at the Notary's Office, for example, to the extent that no common assets or common debts will arise to you. In this manner, you can protect your spouse, for example against risks resulting from your business. The notary will explain the details to you and will draw up the necessary documents.
