How can I make sure my children are treated equally?

An inter vivos distribution can be a way to ensure equal treatment of your children by arranging during your lifetime the transfer and distribution of all or part of your assets among your descendants. An inter vivos distribution is a final distribution of assets gifted to the heirs without joint ownership. This distribution cannot be contested during the settlement of your estate. This type of gift is preferable when cash is being bequeathed. If descendants of different degrees of kinship are involved, it is possible to carry out a cross-generational inter vivos distribution to both children and grandchildren, for example.
