Can I retain some rights associated with the assets I give away? Can I reserve a right of reclaim?

The transferor's rights - i.e. life annuity right, right of habitation and right to use can be disclosed in the real estate and mortgage register.

In succession cases, the ownership of assets is transferred on an heir at the moment of opening the succession (on the death of a person after whom the succession is opened).

As a rule, donations and life annuity contracts are irrevocable. Donations can be revoked in the event of a gross ingratitude on the part of the donee. In some cases, obligations towards the transferor under a life annuity contract can be exchanged for annuity.
