Can I help one of my children without this reducing his/her share in the inheritance ? Can I influence the effects of the donation on the succession ?

Only extraordinary gifts will reduce their legal share of the inheritance such as, for example, a gift of real estate. Such a gift will particularly be taken into account if you have provided so in your last wishes. Otherwise, it will simply be a question of whether the heirs agree on whether or not the gift should be taken into account. If such an agreement is not against the law or unethical, a notary appointed by the tribunal will have to approve it. The notary will explain all the details to you and take all necessary steps.
